Robins Celebrates Close of January Sales!
Coventry City manager Mark Robins has had his say on tonight’s Championship match against West Brom and the deals that did and didn’t go through during the January transfer window.
When asked about the window and keeping key players Robins said, “I’m glad it’s gone and glad it’s shut. It’s not a pleasant experience for anyone now… We set our stall out right from the start. We weren’t letting anybody go. And true to our word and true to the owner’s word (we have not).” It is clear Robins is pleased The Sky Blues managed to keep key players, Viktor Gyokeres especially, as the Sweden striker had been linked with several Premier League clubs.
Friday night football returns for the Sky Blues this week, as City take on West Brom in a West Midlands derby tonight. Carlos Corberan’s Baggies are coming into the game off back-to-back losses, most recent of those a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bristol City in the FA Cup. When asked if he was looking forward to the match, Robins said, “Absolutely, back to the football, yes! They’re a good team… They’ve got quality in the side and on deadline day they’ve added Nathaniel Chalobah and Marc Albrighton.”
It’s a game that could be a real boost for Mark Robins’ side, and he is expecting what he describes as a, “really positive, strong performance” to build on the 2-0 win against Huddersfield in the last match.
