With 1.6 million views on his most popular song, Hood favourite, Reapz a new artist from Tottenham, London found new success by posting his music on TikTok playing his ukulele and gaining 126.2 thousand followers.
Reapz started his career at college where he was a music student at Leyton sixth form college playing alongside his peers with either a piano or ukulele in the music room whenever he could get the chance to have free access during lunch and break times.
He started his first-ever love for music when he was in secondary school and began to have a passion for music. Reapz stated his first earliest memory of his love for music was “when I would be in music lessons during school and they would be the most entertaining and fun lesson to be involved in.”
Reapz learnt how to play the ukulele and piano at a very young age ad now uses his ukulele to entice his fans and supporters to enjoy his rap music as it is something that hasn’t been done yet by another rap artist.
“My greatest musical influence during my childhood would be Rapman as I enjoyed the storytelling and plot lines in his music. Rapman would always release new music that would make me feel as if I could relate as I grew up in a rough neighbourhood in London with a lot of gun and knife violence. Music allowed me to escape reality and make a better world for myself.”
Within the city of London, many artists use music as an escape to leave the lifestyle they are currently in and find a better life for themselves away from corrupt neighbourhoods.
Many other rappers in London have experienced the same feeling just like Reapz such as Bandokay, Abra Cadabra, Tion Wayne and many more. Although Reapz was lucky enough to not be involved in the same environments as others as he took his love for music and used it as an advantage.
