The Coventry Godiva Harriers competed in the relay race together, first runner Emmerson third place on the long first leg before Milnes placed second on the shorter second leg. Rainsley ran the second quickest long leg overall in 29 minutes and 32 seconds. However, Oliver kept Coventry in second place with fourth leg reaching 20 minutes and six seconds.
Kelly ran the fifth leg of 18 minutes and 47 seconds and led the team home to secure the title. The ladies finished one minute, and 20 seconds clear of City of Stoke AC in second place.
The Godiva Harriers were formed in 1879. The original members came from various diverse social backgrounds and occupations. In 1984, the club moved to its present location at Coventry Track in Canley. The club historians are now working to determine whether this is the first time the ladies have won the event. They previously won the event having previously won silver 2010 and 2011 and bronze in 2008 and 2009.
