Care worker takes advantage of vunlerable adults

46 year old Toni Wilkinson has been jailed after stealing thousands of pounds from vulnerable people who were in her care.

Wilkinson worked as a support worker, a role where she was entrusted to be responsible for supporting adults with learning difficulties go about their daily lives. She would help them do tasks such as going shopping this however involved wilkinson to use their bank card to withdraw cash to pay for the groceries.

when speaking to officers she said she would sometimes take out extra cash and keep this for herself, claiming she defrauded thousands of pounds to pay for household bills and debts. Wilkinson from Oldbury reported herself to the police in August 2023 saying she felt guilty where they worked out the full total of the stolen money came to fourty thousand pounds.

She admitted to fraud by abuse of position and has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
