Fatal Collision. 999 Call Ends in Tragedy

A 40-year-old man has tragically died after being struck by a marked police car, whilst crossing Yardley Road in Acocks Green, Birmingham. The collision occurred on the 19th of March, just before 7 pm. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to West Midlands Police, the two officers inside the vehicle were not injured during the incident. The marked police car was on its way to investigate reports of a man seen carrying knives, however, no disorderly behaviour was found.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after the collision. His family is being supported by specially trained officers as they come to terms with the sudden loss.

West Midland police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which will conduct an independent investigation into the fatal collision.
