Music Students Set to Wow Audience at The Arches Venue Alongside Special Guest
The vibrant music scene in Coventry is about to witness an electrifying showcase of talent as the Popular Music Performance and Songwriting students of Coventry University gear up for an unforgettable evening at The Arches Venue on Tuesday, March 26th.
Adding to the excitement, the event will feature a headline performance by the rising star Hana Lili, known for her recent success supporting acclaimed acts like Circa Waves and Somebody’s Child across the nation.
This much-anticipated performance promises an eclectic mix of original compositions crafted by the talented students throughout the semester, along with covers that are sure to resonate with every audience member.
Hana Lili, fresh from the release of her latest single 'Basement,' which has already garnered nearly 40 thousand listens on Spotify, is set to enchant the crowd with her captivating stage presence.
In an exclusive interview with Ben Lacey, a third-year Popular Music Performance and Songwriting student and one of the organisers of the event, he shared his excitement about the upcoming showcase.
"We've been working tirelessly throughout the semester to bring together an incredible lineup that truly represents the talent and diversity of our music program," Ben expressed.
"Having Hana Lili join us as a special guest headliner is a dream come true. Her dedication to her craft and the energy she brings to her performances are truly inspiring." The 20-year-old continues.
With tickets priced at £5, with just an additional £1 booking fee when purchased online, the audience are not only in for a night of music but also a complimentary shot of alcohol upon entry, making it one of the best value gigs in Coventry.
For many students, this event serves as the perfect opportunity to unwind and celebrate the culmination of a successful semester. Whether attending to continue the festivities after the student union society awards or simply to mark the end of term, this promises an evening filled with music and good vibes.
Charlie Killen, a third-year Popular Music Performance and Songwriting student and one of the organisers of the event, shared the work that has gone into the upcoming showcase.
After CovFeed’s Maddy Griffiths observed one of the rehearsals, she could sense the the creative action and has an incline this event will be one to remember.
Charlie Killen continues: “It’s all running smoothly so far, but it’s very busy. We’re making sure flyers are everywhere around Coventry and that people don't miss this once in a lifetime night,”
At the event, the audience can expect a variety of different music from all generes and tastes.
The setlist will feature a mixture of songs that are written by the Coventry Univeristy Popular Music Performance and Songwriting student, as well as covers by classic songs we all know and love.
“It’ll be great fun and we just hope everyone has a great time. I'm most excited for Hana Lili’s set.” The 21-year-old says.
The headlining act of the performance, Hana Lili, is a Welsh singer-songwriter. Her music has been used as a soundtrack on the Love Island television series. In June 2023, she also supported Coldplay on the Cardiff leg of their World tour.
“I think it is amazing that we have managed to secure such an elite artist. It is a lot bigger than what we’ve done before,” Mr Killien continues.
This is Coventry University Popular Music Performance and Songwriting student’s first live performance outside of Coventry University.
Although the event has taken a lot of fundraising to get to where it is, the students added that it has been a great learning experience for everybody involved in the night.
Marta Robak, an alumni student to the course, expressed her enthusiasm for the event.
"As a songwriter, there's nothing quite like seeing your creations come to life on stage, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share that experience with both my peers and an accomplished artist like Hana Lili," Marta remarked.
"It's events like these that remind us why we fell in love with music in the first place."
Doors are set to open at 7PM.
