Unveiling Paradise: A Journey to Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh

Nestled in the shores, where the azure waters meet the golden sands, lies the enchanting sanctuary of Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh. As a traveller seeking solace and serenity amidst the beauty of Egypt, I embarked on a journey to this idyllic haven, eager to uncover its treasures and immerse myself in its splendour.

From the moment I stepped foot into Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh, I was enveloped in an aura of luxury, tranquillity, and heat. The resort's elegant architecture, inspired by the grandeur of ancient Egyptian civilization, seamlessly blends with the natural beauty of its surroundings. One of Haseesh’s most cared-for landmarks is Sunken City. The artificial underwater site, which was created to resemble ancient ruins, is made accessible to swimmers, divers, and snorkelers. Therefore, I was extremely excited to check this out over my week stay.

The reception team were very warm and welcoming like the weather and I was promptly shown to the spacious room. each offering panoramic views of the Red Sea or the resort's lush gardens. With modern amenities and luxurious furnishings, every detail was thoughtfully designed to ensure the utmost comfort and relaxation.

In each room, you received soft drinks, water and a balcony overlooking the picturesque scenery surrounding the resort which truly added to the quality of accommodation. With blue detailing marking the walls and bedding, a large rustic-wooden TV and a spacious work area, the bedroom felt relaxing and breathable.

The generous space between the bathroom and bedroom further added to this feeling, especially if you are going to have a roommate with you. From the private balconies overlooking the azure waters of the Red Sea to the lavish marble bathrooms adorned with luxurious toiletries, every detail was meticulously crafted to ensure the utmost comfort and indulgence.

This is something you will experience every day you spend in this resort as housekeeping is available for soft, clean bedding and the replacing of towels daily. However, in all 7 days, the room was not given a thorough clean. Though it was nice to sleep on clean sheets and use clean towels every night, it is on you as the guest to maintain a certain level of cleanliness in your room otherwise the countertops and bins may not be touched.

As a connoisseur of fine dining, I was delighted to discover the culinary treasures that awaited me at Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh. The resort boasts an array of gastronomic delights, from elegant fine-dining restaurants to casual beachside cafes, offering a feast for the senses at every turn. As it was all-inclusive, you are provided with a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the options are endless.

From pastries and fresh bread in the morning to freshly caught seafood and authentic Egyptian dishes such as stews, hummus, and rice-stuffed vegetables. However, though you may find yourself lost from the level of choice within each meal, the taste and quality of some of the food did not obtain to a high standard. It felt as though flavours were being altered to fit the usual demographic that visit the resort which in turn made most of the dishes bland and inauthentic.

For example, having South Asian parents, I was raised eating the most authentic Bangladeshi curries made at home, therefore, when I was faced with ‘Indian lentils’ and ‘samosas’ that did not resemble the flavours they were supposed to it was interesting to see how the chefs put their own spin on the food.

Nonetheless, the selection of desserts and fresh fruit never disappointed me. From freshly filled cream tarts to a variety of cakes, pastries and biscuits, your sweet tooth will feel satisfied yet leave you wanting more.

Emeka Brown a 58-year-old social worker from Manchester, who was visiting the resort said, "The food is the only disappointing factor to the experience, even with the vouchers you receive on arrival for the Mexican and Italian restaurant". He added, "When me and my family used the vouchers for dinner throughout our stay, I can say the Italian restaurant had the worst pizza I have ever had in my life, but the Mexican one was adequate".

For those seeking adventure and excitement, Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh offers an array of leisure and recreational activities to suit every taste and preference. From lounging by the sprawling infinity pool and soaking up the sun's rays to embarking on thrilling water sports adventures in the Red Sea, there is no shortage of opportunities for outdoor fun and excitement. For those seeking relaxation, the resort's world-class spa offers a sanctuary of serenity, where rejuvenating treatments and holistic therapies await, this is for an additional cost of £100 for two hours.

Snorkelling and diving lessons were also available for purchase on the beach which seemed quite surprising considering the recent shark attack that occurred close to shore at the resort. Zainab Hamad a 46-year-old manager at the hotel said they "deemed it safe enough after doing countless round checks and checking with the professionals that work with the water sports and at the beach". She added, "unexpected things happen, and it was a very scary experience for our guests, it did impact the resort in many ways, but we continue to work towards making it a safe and enjoyable stay”.

Beyond the confines of the resort, Tropitel Sahl Hasheesh serves as a gateway to the wonders of Egypt, offering access to a wealth of cultural and historical treasures waiting to be explored. From awe-inspiring ancient monuments such as the Great Pyramids of Giza and the majestic temples of Luxor to vibrant bazaars and bustling markets, there is no shortage of cultural experiences to discover and savour. Quad biking through the deserts in Hurghada was a surreal experience, the fast pace, thrilling feeling of driving through the rocky sand as the sunset glistens over is worth the £30 you spend, and you are given the privilege of riding a camel for ten minutes whilst drinking a glass of fresh tea.

Zainab’s advice to those seeking a getaway in Sahl Hasheesh was "What better way to getaway than having a beach 5 minutes away from your room and being surrounded by a fun atmosphere"? She added that the resort "is ranked 5 stars because of the balance of excitement and relaxation you feel when you are here", "There is something for everyone, no matter your age and with the help of our amazing animation team, we will get you dancing and ultimately having fun which is why you are on vacation".
