The BBC Big Weekender

 

The BBC radio 1 big weekender is one of the biggest music festivals, held at least once a year in different locations within the United Kingdom.

 

From 27 May to 29 May, Coventry will host the BBC Radio 1 Biggest Weekender this year that is offline for the first time in three years. This has been highly anticipated event since the start of quarantine. Coventry is the host city of the festival this year, which it has not been since 2018. It will be held in the war memorial park.

 

The acts that have been announced for the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend,

·      Ed Sheeran, 

·      KSI,

·      AJ Tracey, 

·      Central Cee, 

·      Sigrid, 

·      Calvin Harris, 

·      Aitch and many more biggest artists 

 

Tickets went on sale from March 18th, and tickets for Friday 27th to Sunday 29th majority of the tickets have sold out from the excitement of it being in person, instead of online this year. Some locals have expressed that they are very disappointed with the fact, that they couldn’t get their hands on buying tickets for the festival because of how it sold out quickly. They branded the Ticketmaster system as “ridiculous”. Some fans have even given up on waiting to secure tickets against over 75,000 people at its busiest. 

Lucy Owen told Coventry Live,” I waited in a queue of 30,000 people in front of me, got to a point where you get the tickets and it said enter postcode which I did, then asked for a code which I didn't have. When I tried again, they had sold out.”

 

Grace Atkins, 21, from Coventry University is usually big on music festivals and this is the first time she will be going to the BBC radio 1 big weekend this year, and this is what she had to say, “I’ve heard of the BBC radio big weekend and I’m planning on enjoying my summer, so this festival will be the very start of it.”
