What there is to do at the Coventry Christmas Market this festive season

This Christmas, Coventry looks especially festive thanks to some recent upgrades to the city centre. The Coventry Christmas markets now feature a 100-foot ferris wheel that gives locals and tourists breath-taking city views along with many delicious foods to get people in the spirit.

Cllr Abdul Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events said, “Alongside the big wheel, there will be 22 market stalls selling a range of festive food, drink and gifts for residents of the city and visitors from further afield to enjoy.”

When and where is the Christmas market?

The market will run from the 18th November to the 7th January and is free for everyone. It is open from 11am until late and is in Broadgate in the City Centre.

What foods will be available this year?

From sweet treats to savoury snacks, the market will offer a variety of options and according to Leila Croydon, Coventry Christmas market there are “more food stalls” this year. A range of food sellers will be offering items such as:

  • Crepes

  • Yorkshire pudding wraps

  • Chocolate kisses

What else does the Christmas market have to offer?

“In the market there is the giant observation wheel which gives a good view of the city,”the market director said. The wheel is 35-meters high and is open to ride from 11am-10pm daily with Christmas Day being the only exception. This attraction will cost £8 for adults and £6 for children, however if you book online there is a 15 per-cent discount.

An addition that is “quite different for this year” Leila said is the multiple gift stalls. There is plenty of different kinds of souvenirs available to purchase at the market. She also adds: “this is our 8th year so it’s just expanding more and more,” so we can hopefully expect to see the gift stalls becoming a new standard for Coventry Christmas market.
