Cov Rugby’s Ready For RFU Decision!
Coventry Rugby captain Jordon Poole has underlined that players are ready to hear the RFU’s plans for the Rugby Championship, ahead of his side’s top-3 face-off against Doncaster this weekend.
Captain Jordon Poole spoke about the “sticky position” the league is in as the RFU’s sport-defining decision over funding looms for Championship teams.
Poole said, “We’re still waiting on a decision from the RFU on what our actual league looks like next year and that does cause some uncertainty between players, but everyone is focused on just playing as well as they can for the club.”
Poole continued, “Here at Coventry, we’re just enjoying our time together as a group both on the pitch and off the pitch.”
The 26-year-old hooker spoke about the ways they spend time together as a team off the pitch, including going for breakfast, as a group, “It’s just time for us all to get together and have that off-field bonding and a bit of a chinwag. I’ll have avocado, eggs and toast, but it’s different for each of us.”
Poole is looking to continue his recent run of good form in his 50th appearance for the club, in a game he said many fans are touting as “season defining” as they battle against Doncaster for the second-place spot in the table.
The club is coming into the match off the back of a 36-4 victory against Ampthill, and Poole says they are looking to follow-up their impressive second-half in that match, tomorrow, after they had a shaky start at Ampthill. “Our second-half performance was a lot more clinical and a lot more ruthless.” He continued, “We would like to take the positives of that into the Doncaster game.”
