Coventry’s A46 due to close in December for construction of new flyover

One of the busiest stretches of the A46 is due to close for two weekends in December as the City Council progress with plans to build a £61 Million ‘flyover’ in Binley.

The National Highways warn that both directions of traffic will be closed from the A45 junction to the Clifford Bridge Road Junction.

At the TGI Friday’s Island, the A428 will also be closed.

The first closure will start 8pm Friday, December 3 where it will remain closed to the public until 6am Monday, December 6.

On the following weekend will close at the same time on Friday, December 10, and will reopen at the same time on Monday, December 13.

Having the A46 closed will allow for construction to begin, where contractors will lift thirty-two large steel bridge beams to form the new flyover’s basic structure.

Traffic will be prohibited; however pedestrian routes will remain open.

CovFeed highly recommend that all drivers take extra time to plan their journeys to minimise delays and further congestion.
