Free school meals will be provided this easter break through HAF Programme

Coventry Holyday Activities and Food programme (HAF) is open for booking from 10 March, as Funding from the government’s HAF Programme was accepted by cabinet on March 9. The programme provides holiday activities and meals for free during Easter school break. All kids who eligible for free school meals are can apply for the programme. 

HAF is the programme started from last year by funding from national government. Since then, Coventry HAF has covered two main school holiday periods, summer and Christmas break 2021. upcoming programme in this Easter named ‘Spring Fun 2022’ starts from 9 April and ends on 24 April. However, participant should check the dates for activities before booking since the dates for the individual activities can be differed. 

Regardless of the children’s booking for the activity, every household which has a child eligible for free school meals will get food by parcel. Cabinet member for education Cllr Kevin Maton said to Coventry Live, “It is good to see there is a recognition of how important this is.” He also paying respect to the local funding by saying that “It is still under-funded but it is something we are in a position – with a lot of partners within individual communities – to be able to deliver.”

Various activities provided from lots of places throughout the city, not only center area but also in remote residential area. Those who want to participate can get booking on Coventry City Council website. If having difficulties to book online, you can book it over telephone (08085 834 333) or you can go to Family Hubs or Library to make your booking. For booking, the HAF code is required. A copy of the code will be provided for all who is eligible through post in early March.
