Statistics show almost 20% of the UK suffers from mental illnesses.

Over the past 3 years the mental health of the nation has been thrust into the forefront of people’s minds, with charities like Mind being given huge donations from the government during the Covid-19 pandemic to help support those who need it.

A less talked about topic however is the mental health of those working in the NHS and other care sectors, a topic that you can hear more about on our program later today.

But just how bad is mental health throughout the country? A survey conducted by Mind revealed that in any one week in the UK 1 in 6 people will experience a common mental health problem.

And finally in the local area of Coventry there’s many community driven organisations helping people with their mental health, such as Arty Folks who offer art therapy, or The Pod Cafe who serve vegan food and run workshops for those struggling with mental illnesses.
