MCM Birmingham: What’s going on?
Written by Joseph B
MCM Comic Con Birmingham is set to begin at the NEC on the 29th of this month, lasting throughout the weekend.
Appealing to all fans of video games, comics, anime and manga they have a guest list compiling some notable names, even if you aren’t a diehard fan. Ben Willbond and Laurence Rickard are famous for their roles in Horrible Histories, whilst Luke Evans is famous for playing Gaston in the live-action Beauty and the Beast Disney movie.
Alongside these are titans in the industry such as Christopher Judge (Kratos from God Of War) and Doug Cockle (Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher). Just by looking at the guest list, it is clear that there is someone for everyone to look out for. Plus, with the additional shows, stages and panels there are plenty of opportunities to meet these legends and interact with them. Other guests include Alastair Duncan (Mimir + Senator Armstrong), Daisuke Tsuji (Jin Sakai) and Oded Fehr (The Mummy) to name a few.
For the cosplay community attending, there is plenty to do! With fandom meetups (for photoshoots, interactions and just to talk) no matter who you go as, you will find your people at MCM Birmingham. There are also exhibits and competitions to show off your cosplays and determine who has the best one of them all, prizes included.
Attendees can also expect to see stalls and shops all around the NEC halls, so for all first-time convention goers I might advise you to set a strict budget in advance because the stalls will lure you in and tempt you to spend your money. These stalls are often run by independent creators and sellers, so be sure to keep an eye out for some uniquely charming trinkets whilst you walk around.
This convention is shaping up to be an exciting one for every day you can attend! And with Saturday now fully booked out places are limited, showing the anticipation for this event.
